President Santokhi: “There is nothing going on between Brunswijk and me; we have unity”

President Chan Santokhi stated in an interview with Suriname suriname that there is nothing going on between him and Vice President Ronnie Brunswijk. He claims that there is unity between the VHP and the ABOP.
“So many things are being said on social media, but they are all rumors. There is nothing between us. We form a team and have constitutional responsibilities as a government. We have constitutional duties, and besides that, we also have tasks related to various issues that are at play. We need to provide good guidance for this. There will always be issues that can be discussed, but we will resolve them,” the president remarked.
Santokhi further indicated that work is being done on the issue concerning Minister Bronto Somohardjo of Internal Affairs. “We are also dealing with the issue of Minister Somohardjo. That will also be resolved. The minister will not resign. We will give the CLAD the space to conduct the investigation, and in that regard, he needs to stay home for a while, but it will also be resolved.”
President Santokhi stated that the things being said are not true. “The things that are said, ‘a no tru.’ There is unity between Brunswijk and me. We are working towards May 25, 2025. Wo wroko tranga, wo gi den sani san un pramisi a volk. Owktu den sma in a binnenland o kisi. Then we go back after May 25,” said Santokhi.
