Prominent NDP member André Misiekaba has strongly criticized the US$ 750 promised by President Chan Santokhi to the public. Speaking at a party meeting in Goede Verwachting, Misiekaba questioned who determined that this amount would be sufficient to address the population’s needs. He argued that the government has failed to solve the country’s long-standing structural problems.
“The only thing the president can do now is prepare to go home,” Misiekaba declared. The former minister stressed that the past 4.5 years of governance have been marked by incompetence and a lack of decisive action. He added that what seemed impossible for years now suddenly appears achievable in the final six months of the administration’s term.
Misiekaba urged his supporters to accept any assistance the current government provides. “It’s their right,” he said, referring to the financial aid measures.
