Minister Dinotha Vorswijk of Land Policy and Forest Management (GBB) emphasized during the press conference following the Council of Ministers (RvM) meeting that the seizures of properties and houses are not the fault of her ministry. The seizures involve four state projects: Altona, Hanna’s Lust, Richelieu and La Vigilantia.
This underscores the complex situation surrounding land management and the legal and administrative challenges that arise with government projects. The GBB ministry appears to be distancing itself from the responsibilities associated with these seizures. It will be important to further investigate the involvement of other entities in these matters.
Minister Vorswijk indicated that the seizures of properties and houses date back to the years 2012, 2018, and 2024. She has held discussions with various involved groups and emphasizes that the ministry, along with MI-GLIS, has initiated an investigation to determine the causes of the problems.
Despite residents having already paid for the houses, seizures have still occurred. The ministry did not intentionally allow this; the seizures seem to stem from dissatisfaction among entrepreneurs who have not received their funds from the government. This situation illustrates the complex relationship between the government, residents, and entrepreneurs, as well as the importance of a thorough evaluation to prevent future issues.
Minister Vorswijk stresses that the ministry is doing everything possible to address the concerns of the involved parties. She has made it clear that the ministry cannot be considered guilty in this situation. This indicates that efforts are being made to take the concerns of residents and entrepreneurs seriously and to find solutions to the problems that have arisen from the seizures. It is essential that there is open communication and collaboration among all parties involved to reach a satisfactory resolution.
