Minister Rishma Kuldipsingh of Economic Affairs, Entrepreneurship, and Technological Innovation (EZ) has encouraged citizens to manage their budgets carefully during the festive month of December. Despite the celebratory atmosphere, the minister emphasized the importance of sensible spending, particularly when shopping. This advice was shared ahead of one of the weekly Council of Ministers (RvM) meetings.
Gas cylinder prices and subsidy reductionMinister Kuldipsingh noted that no violations have been observed regarding the sale of gas cylinders. The prices of gas cylinders were recently adjusted and are expected to increase further until they stabilize at around SRD 500.
This price increase is part of the gradual phasing out of gas subsidies. The minister stated that her ministry’s policy is to engage in dialogue with stakeholders before implementing additional measures.
Positive inspections of pharmaciesAttention was also given to inspections at pharmacies. Minister Kuldipsingh reported that these inspections are proceeding well, which she considers a positive indicator of compliance with regulations in the pharmaceutical sector.
Despite the economic challenges, the ministry remains committed to supporting the community as effectively as possible and ensuring adherence to legislation across various sectors.
