Minister Kenneth Amoksi of Justice and Police (Juspol) stated that police officers acted correctly during the eviction of parliament member Melvin Bouva (NDP) from the meeting hall of the National Assembly (DNA). He made this statement today before the weekly Council of Ministers (RvM) meeting. Bouva was removed from the meeting hall by about twenty police officers due to disruption of the session.
This incident is not the first time DNA members have been evicted from the hall by police officers. The NDP faction reacted sharply to the incident, while reactions on social media were varied.
Bouva sought to raise issues during the session, such as the lack of garbage collection and delays in payments to contractors. These problems apparently have a significant impact on the community, which explains the outrage and discussion surrounding the incident.
Minister Amoksi emphasized that the police acted according to established protocols and procedures. He stated that the police did not overstep their boundaries and that their actions were based on clear guidelines. By following these procedures, the minister aims to alleviate concerns about police actions in the National Assembly meeting hall.
