Minister Kenneth Amoksi of Justice and Police (Juspol) stated that the lack of resources presents a significant challenge in the fight against crime. During a meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Business and International Cooperation (BIBIS), where agreements with the United States were signed, he emphasized the urgent need for additional resources to improve the situation.
A key step in this effort is the discussion of the Special Investigative Powers Act in the National Assembly, which will grant more authority to various agencies. Additionally, it is crucial to revise privacy legislation to effectively combat crime on all fronts.
Amoksi also stressed that the acquisition of vehicles and other equipment is a priority, as training alone is insufficient for tackling crime effectively. The cooperation with the United States aims to strengthen the fight against drug-related crime.
Authorities need crucial information and data to act efficiently. Moreover, the Ministry of Defense will provide resources, utilizing military facilities to improve operations in hard-to-reach areas.
Amoksi emphasized that the government is determined to make crime prevention and safety top priorities, despite concerns from the public about the current approach.
