The Kennedy School has launched a valuable initiative with the opening of a FabLab classroom, specifically designed for children with special needs. This project, supported by the Children and Disability Fund, provides these students with the opportunity to develop in the field of ICT.
Director Renate Wartes-Venloo indicated that the launch of the project took some time, particularly due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The recently arrived materials in Suriname are now finally available, offering an excellent opportunity for the students to develop their skills.
ICT teacher Ryan Karwofodi will guide the students and, after the initial phase, test them on their acquired knowledge and skills. The goal is to teach practical techniques that they can apply in the future.
With the opening of this FabLab, the Kennedy School hopes not only to inspire the involved students but also to encourage other schools to set up similar FabLabs. It is essential that children remain motivated to participate in these innovative lessons and technology.
Wartes-Venloo’s vision of technological advancement brings optimism for the future of these children within the ICT sector. This initiative has the potential not only to improve their skills but also to increase their chances of a successful future in an increasingly digital world.
