The Ministry of Justice and Police (Juspol) continues to focus actively on youth crime. Minister Kenneth Amoksi of Juspol stated before the start of the weekly Council of Ministers (RvM) meeting that regular patrols are still being conducted at schools. This commitment arises from societal concerns about increasing youth violence, which has received renewed attention due to disturbing images and reports.
Amoksi indicated that bag checks are also being carried out at schools to ensure the safety of students. In line with these measures, Minister Henry Ori of Education, Science, and Culture (minOWC) has requested Juspol to train 110 individuals as special police officers (BAVP). These trained officers will be deployed in schools to further enhance safety, highlighting the government’s commitment to providing a secure learning environment for all students.
Minister Amoksi also advocated for more intensive information sharing with the public, especially regarding serious incidents such as murder and other criminal cases. He emphasized the importance of well-informed citizens who know how to act in threatening situations.
Despite efforts during the road safety month, citizen traffic behavior remains a concern, with numerous accidents occurring daily. Additional measures will be implemented leading up to the festive season to improve road safety and reduce incidents. This approach demonstrates the government’s strong focus on both crime prevention and traffic safety.
During the holiday season, all available resources will be mobilized to intensify surveillance services. Minister Amoksi urged police officers to handle service vehicles carefully and stressed that security services have a role model function. This approach aims to ensure a safe environment and strengthen citizens’ trust in the authorities.
