Healthcare is on the verge of undergoing a substantial transformation. During the weekly Council of Ministers meeting, Minister Amar Ramadhin announced that the focus is on modernizing hospitals and improving infrastructure. These initiatives aim to increase the self-reliance of the healthcare system and enhance the quality of services.
The government has announced investments in new ambulances and medical equipment. These investments are seen as a crucial step towards improving healthcare for the Surinamese population. Minister Ramadhin emphasized that these measures are necessary to make healthcare more accessible and efficient.
President Chan Santokhi’s recent visit to the Academic Hospital Paramaribo (AZP) underscores the urgency of healthcare reforms. Despite previous concerns about issues, Minister Ramadhin reports that the progress of ongoing projects is encouraging and that payments are made on time, even though there are occasional delays.
The emphasis on Emergency Services and maternal and child care highlights the government’s focus on the most pressing needs within the healthcare sector. The collaboration with TotalEnergies is an example of a strategic approach that can help address existing problems and improve the quality of care.
