The decision of the political parties A20 and DOE to join forces ahead of the 2025 elections is one made by the voters. The call for cooperation was already clear in 2020, and by 2024, both parties decided to face the will of the people together. Both parties took the 2020 electorate seriously and worked on forming a joint alliance. A20 chairman Steven Reyme said there have been no issues with the collaboration.
Both party leaders essentially took a step back to make this partnership possible, Reyme explained during the Bakana Tori program on LIM FM. He revealed that DOE chairman Steven Alfaisie had no objections to operating under the A20 banner and will be second on the candidate list. According to Reyme, leadership is not an issue, as both parties are aligned in their vision, and the leaders have a strong understanding of each other.
Reyme believes in change management, where everything is a process. To achieve a goal, preparation must be solid. He pointed to the education issue as an example: while the new ideas are good, proper preparation is necessary to implement them. Additionally, he emphasized that people should not expect visible changes in a short time.
When asked which ministry would suit these parties, Reyme suggested that the Ministry of Social Affairs and Housing would be the most appropriate. Although this has not yet been discussed with DOE, he believes the party would be open to it. Both parties prioritize the well-being of the people, according to the politician.
Reyme expressed his distress at seeing people with disabilities begging on the streets. He questioned whether there are no opportunities to integrate these individuals into the workforce. The government, he said, must focus on the poor and disabled. He boldly stated that, over the past 50 years, governments have done little to implement policies that would improve the lives of these vulnerable groups.
