Akiemboto asks Santokhi to stop taking action

Sergio Akiemboto, one of the vice chairmen of the National Democratic Party (NDP), called on President Chan Santokhi to refrain from taking any further action. “No need to do anything more, things are already broken,” said the politician during a party meeting on Hernhutter Street. Akiemboto voiced this criticism because, in his opinion, the president is not capable of solving the country’s problems.
According to the vice chairman, a different course must be taken in the country from now on. He dreams of a future where children can go to school, and the population has enough to eat. The country must continue to develop. Akiemboto disapproves of the current government’s policies because he believes the benefits are reserved only for a select group. That should not happen, the politician stated.
The NDP will share the truth with the people as they move towards the elections. There is a lot of work ahead for the party. Akiemboto called on the party structures to go door-to-door and share the message with the community.
In addition to spreading the truth, the NDP also wants to win the elections with the love they stand for. According to Akiemboto, Suriname has fallen far behind, and responsibility must be taken to get the country back on track.
Akiemboto also addressed the issue of oil and gas. Although he is pleased with the confirmation of the Final Investment Decision (FID), he warned the people not to expect the benefits in the short term. There must be proper management of the revenue, which should be invested in essential projects such as education and security.
