The National Party of Suriname (NPS) aims to emerge as the largest party in the upcoming elections on May 25, 2025. They want to take the lead in developing the country. History has shown that when the party is in charge, there is stability and progress.
Party leader Hesdy Pigot states that the NPS is working hard to gain the trust of the people. The political organization will choose its partners when the time is right for collaboration. Pigot made this statement during an interview with Radio ABC.
The executive board member does not want to specify who the potential partners are. According to Pigot, the results of the elections will be calmly awaited. The party’s congress will also determine the direction the party will take.
At this moment, the party is focusing on itself, and all efforts are being combined to make a good impression during the public vote. When asked why the NPS does not indicate in advance which parties are excluded from cooperation, Pigot states that this cannot be predetermined. Several factors must be taken into account, with the track record of the parties being significant. He continually refers to the congress, which, as the highest authority, will decide with whom to collaborate.
The NPS leader asserts that the public has enough comparative material to determine under which government Suriname fared better.
